WINTER 2009

West Bar Surgery logo

Move to South Bar House

West Bar Surgery will close at 1.00pm on Friday 20th February and reopen at the new surgery at 8.00am on Monday 23rd February. We will run an emergency only surgery from Hardwick from Friday afternoon on 20th February. Car parking will be available for patients at the new surgery but will be monitored by a clamping company.

To make things clear to patients West Bar Surgery and Horsefair Surgery will keep their separate identities, Horsefair Surgery will be on the First floor of South Bar House and West Bar Surgery will be on the second floor of South Bar House, the third floor will remain empty for the time being. All telephone numbers and email addresses will remain unchanged. Patients of Horsefair Surgery will follow signs in BLUE with their own new logo. Patients for West Bar Surgery will follow our own new logo which is in RED and Grey as above.

After entering the building go to the reception desk and give your name and surgery to the receptionist and she will give you directions, West Bar Surgery will be on the second floor, you can use the stairs or the lift, you will follow the signs in Red. There will be a second reception where you give your name and doctor or you can use the self book in system, all rooms will be clearly signed and the doctor’s name will be shown above each door.

For doctors further down the corridor there will be a sub waiting room to make it easier for the doctor to call the patient.

South Bar house has been customised to suit the needs of a modern day medical centre; you can enter the building from ether the front Entrance off Oxford Road or from the rear entrance in Bear Garden Road, the building is disabled friendly with a lift to access the upper floors and where there are steps there will also be ramps for wheelchair users, if any patient needs assistance please ask at reception and assistance will be arranged.

There has been a lot of hard work gone in to the decor of the building, it does not have that clinical feel about it, with nice warm colours to make it a much more pleasant atmosphere for the patient to sit and wait, the doctor / nurse will call your name in the usual way, booking appointments will remain the same.

Would all patients please be patient with us while we find our feet in our magnificent new building and with your support we should settle in as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation Practice.

Extended Hours

As from Saturdays from July 5th for routine appointments, 2 doctors and 1 nurse will offer pre-booked appointments. Reception will be open to collect prescriptions, any one with acute illness on the day will use the Out of Hours service as before, this is an additional service for commuters and people who work full time who cannot take time off to see a doctor. The telephones will not be in operation. We hope patients will be pleased with this additional service which is what was requested by some of those who completed our patient survey last year.
